Based in Portland, Oregon under the direction of Donna Oefinger, Axé Didé Music and Dance Company performs dynamic interpretations of sacred and secular dances from Cuba and Brazil. These passionate African-rooted traditions captivate audiences in the celebration of the many forces of nature.Axé Didé’s adaptation of these styles gives a fresh and uplifting view of expression through history. Taken literally, “Axé Didé” means Rising Vital Energy. Axé Didé calls forth this energy through a variety of dances ranging from the entrancing gods of fire, metal, and water to the celebratory and sexy movements of Samba. A full show would include approximately 5 dancers accompanied by live drumming and singing, further intensifying the experience of life force or Axé.
