Dasha Shleyeva Bio:

Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, Dasha Shleyeva moved to the United States at a young age. Her upbringing within two separate cultures and undulations between two geographic homes has heavily molded her current work. An active exploration of the terrains within the traditions of her country’s history and geography of the stories within her genealogy plays a vital role in her illustrations. Her work considers folklore, flora and fabric as vessels for infusing past and current culture with color. There is a presence of a vast arrangement of moving, acting and reacting lines within which one can unfurl and untangle their own tale and perhaps even get lost in it themselves.
